Learning to be more self sufficient is so much fun, I recently learned how to make granola. OMG!! It is so good. We have totally thrown out all the cereal in the house and I have switched the kids over to granola and they love it. I was amazed how much they love it. So here is my recipe for it along with some pics. This is also my first blog so I am still trying to get in the swing of it!
Now this is the basic recipe, You can add anything to it!
8 cups oats
1-2 cups finely chopped nuts(I use pecans)
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup Maple syrup
1 tsp salt
2 tbs cinnamon
1 tbs vanilla extract
1 cup honey
Mix oats and nuts together.
Combine all the other ingredients in saucepan and heat on medium till boil.
Pour over oat n nut mix.
Mix well
Spread out in even layer on cookie sheet.
Bake 325 for 20 minutes mixing once.
Don't cook any longer then 25 minutes
Granola will harden as it cools.
Make sure you crumble it before it cools all the way.(Easier)
I also made granola bars too. These have Peanut butter instead of the honey. The recipe is so versatile!!
Looks Great. Love Granola... we make ours too. Actually I need to be makin some more!
